散戲之後

抽搐的風橫掃街道
此際我倆靜悄悄地走著
直到冷與靜幾乎交錯
於一點——一顆星重獲自由
自兩團雨雲的夾縫。我倆倚著
風,還有我倆說的認真話。

一位緊張而高興的觀眾
隨眾擁入我倆剛離開的劇院
戀人們笑看憂愁的人
而正直、仁慈已不復存於
各種哲理。我倆亦如此
說話好低聲卻好熱烈。


After a Play

The wind in spasms swept the street
As we walked very quietly
Till cold and silence seemed to meet
And make one point--one star set free
Between two stormy clouds. We leant
Upon both wind and words we meant.

A tense and joyful audience had
Thronged in the theatre we left.
Lovers had laughed at being sad
And justice, mercy were bereft
Of all abstractions. So were we,
Talking so low yet passionately.
